Autumn is most definitely my favorite season. The heat of the summer begins to give way to waves of cold fronts. The leaves take on a hue that can seem otherworldly. And the hiking goes from hot and sweaty to brisk and comfortable. A few of us from work made the drive to Grayson Highlands to enjoy the change in season, the ponies, the hiking, and of course the company.
The hike to Mount Rogers was about 9 miles. It was relatively flat, without much cover until the end. Scenic vistas are scattered throughout the park, which were enhanced by the sunny skies and red leaves. Honestly it was an amazing experience and I can't wait to return again!
